This unique music event is a four day celebration of the world’s most popular instrument curated by internationally renowned Australian guitarist Slava Grigoryan.
The biennial festival is the most significant festival of its kind held in the Southern Hemisphere. Festival goers experience artists from around the world coming together with some of the best Australian musicians to deliver an exciting program of events. The festival is made up of performances, free and low cost workshops, master classes, artist’s talks, panel discussions and programs for emerging musicians.
Adelaide Guitar Festival has continued to build on previous programs and expand in to new territory. In addition to the main event (9 – 12 August, 2018), the Adelaide Guitar Festival presents:
- Guitars In Bars, 13–29 July 2018 – an open-access program celebrating the Adelaide music scene.
- Adelaide Guitar Festival Winter School, 16–20 July 2018 – invites guitarists to participate in a week of intensive, immersive classical guitar playing and skills development with highly respected national and international guitar teachers.
- Resonance, 28 July – 10 August 2018 – Understanding how music can play a role in health, well-being, and recovery, the Resonance program will deliver outstanding musicians for intimate performances at hospitals, aged care facilities and community centres across metro and (outer metro or greater) Adelaide.
Adelaide International Classical Guitar Competition – The most prestigious guitar competition in the southern hemisphere with emerging guitarists from around the world playing for $32, 000 worth of prizes.
